I would die for Neon Violet. I’m only halfway through Neon White, and there are still some obvious mysteries to uncover, so who knows – maybe I did die for her. If I did, all I can say is it was definitely my fault. Romance in games is nothing new, and there are much longer, deeper games that take you on more personal journeys through their love affairs, but I’ve never met a character quite like Neon Violet. Neon Red, the other female character present in your story, is fine, but she’s also pretty common in the video game world. She’s a dry-witted assassin who takes no shit, has long flowing hair, a model’s body, and could kick your ass from here to Texas. In the real world, that would make her compelling. In video games… meh. I’ve seen it all before. What else ya got?
